Two years ago at the age of 61 I literally woke up with terrible spasm pains on the right side of my neck. I visited my GP who sent me for an X-ray to the top part of my spine,  the results were that it was just general wear and tear for a woman of my age, at this point no ongoing treatment was suggested only to take some painkillers as and when required, I did this for a while but the spasms were getting worse and by this time both arms and hands were being affected with awful pain and numbness, I returned to my GP who suggested a course of Physiotherapy sessions to which I had six they made no difference what so ever. It was at this point in time that Vicky Ahern suggested that I  to go and see Tony Hardiman at The Chi Clinic but I didn’t and carried on down the conventional route.

Being the physio had not worked, I went to see a Chiropractor  where I had six sessions of therapy, after a while when nothing improved it was suggested I get my thyroid gland checked, I had this done by having a blood test and then another one three months later the result was all fine.

I was by now so poorly I went to see another GP who signed me off work and said I should see an Orthopaedic Surgeon, fortunately having private medical cover I was able to go straight away, this resulted in me having an MRI scan, numerous blood tests a Nerve conduction test down my arms to see if there was a separate problem with the arms and hands, all came back nothing wrong….except wear and tear to the top part of my spine, The Orthopaedic Surgeon then injected my neck in the operating theatre with five steroid injections to the affected area of my neck this procedure was very painful and uncomfortable and didn’t help the pain at all.

On the surgeons recommendation I had numerous sessions of Physio and towards the end of the treatment I was given some Acupuncture which was the first thing that had relieved me slightly of the pain. I also used a Tens Machine to try and help as well.

A year had passed since the pain started I was still off work from a job that I loved and consequently as I could not see a return to work date I decided to retire.

My husband  works full time but he had to take me on all my appointments and also  had the usual chores to get through at the weekends because I could do nothing, this led to him getting very tired and obviously fed up, which led to many arguments between the two of us my son & his family were helpful where they sometimes took me out for a ride in the car or helped Colin with the housework, thing was I had always been the get up and go type of person and this person they were seeing now was upsetting them, so much so that my grandson  wrote a poem about my neck and gave it to me to try and cheer me up one day when I was really down (I am enclosing a copy at the end of this letter)

Gradually as time went on I slowly bit by bit started to have better days than bad ones I managed to cut down on some of the painkillers, on one of these good days I visited my old workplace and I saw Vicky who had been taking a Tai Chi Class we chatted as to how I was and  was suggested again to me that I go and see Tony……so I thought well I have been the conventional route so why not! I made an appointment for the following week.

Well! after the initial consultation and signing of forms I got up on the couch and literally within minutes Tony established the problem wasn’t my neck but my right shoulder that was causing the problem but no one else had thought to look!

Tony really worked on my neck and shoulders, well everywhere really and after my first session I was able to lift my arms much higher than I had done for years! and most importantly my body started to feel better, I went home very weary and relaxed and slept very well that night. I returned the next week and by this time I was almost free of the awful pain I was so elated it made me tearful when I spoke of my recovery to anyone.

My second session went even better, I am now pain free and have been able to leave off the painkillers, Tony also repaired some other ailments including a bad ankle that had been badly sprained through falling down the stairs the previous year.

I now tell everyone I can about Tony and just wished I had taken Vicky’s advice two years ago

as then I would probably still be working and my husband and family would not have had all the grief and upset of the last two years

I am a qualified Mental Health Nurse and when injured at work I seriously damaged my wrist. I underwent investigative surgery and was told I would need an extensive operation including a bone graft and pins being inserted. With two young children and being left hand dominant this was not good news. I decided to try 'alternative' therapies which to be honest I was very sceptical of. Then I met Tony!!

Within 6 sessions I was able to use my hand again, was pain free and had been given the space, time and support from Tony to enable me to deal with the psychological trauma of the event.

Two years on, my wrist is completely back to normal. Something the medical profession said could never happen without surgery. When I informed my consultant of my recovery I was very disappointed at his inability to acknowledge the role Chi Healing played in this. It certainly highlights the need for more research to be carried out and to work towards establishing a far more holistic approach to health care.

I have subsequently attended several courses and learnt more in the course on Oppressive Patterns & Mental Abuse than in 3 years of Mental Health Nurse Training! I have adapted the way I work and indeed continue to do so as I become more aware of these issues.

The impact Tony has made on my life and consequentially that of my family has been life changing and positive. I cannot explain what Tony does, but no longer feel the need to. What I do know is that what Tony and Vicky have created at the Chi Clinic is an environment where healing and self development occurs on so many levels and for that I am eternally grateful.

This was indeed a case of incorrect or insufficient comprehension of the injury by others who made assumptions and did not consider what had caused the injury.

The interosseous membrane between the radius and ulnar had collapsed and was ‘kinked’.  By manipulation, I was able to straighten the injury which allowed the cells to reform to the correct position.

This is a common injury in Martial arts and one that I have seen many times and treated successfully.

I had severe back pain in the lumbar region,  I found the chi clinic on the internet. I had suffered with my back problem for approx 1yr.   I had been all the way down western medical route with no luck and not even knowing what was wrong with my back. After the 1st session at the Chi Clinic with Tony Hardiman I knew that I had a slipped disc in the lumbar region and a torn muscle in the middle section of my back, Tony managed to back the muscles off in my back an allow the ligament to pull the disc back near to its original position. I had a slip on the ice after this an the disc slipped forwards.   I had another treatment and was told the cusps that hold the disc may be damaged.  Tony again managed to get the disc back to near its original position returning some movement and bringing some pain relief to me (as much pain relief as when I was on the buphrenorphine (opium) patches).

Tony believes that this is as much as he can do for me and that i may have to make some lifestyle changes due to my back problems. However I cannot stress enough the amazing job Tony has done with my back and I would highly recommend the Chi Clinic to anyone with back problems.

Tony Hardiman also managed to sort out a minor neck problem I have had  for 14 yrs from a roller skating accident in the first session ( I could never do chin to chest after the accident and then after Tony's treatment, I could).

CASE COMMENT  This condition is extremely debilitating where the Lumbar 5 drops inwards and the spinal nerves are compressed.  Unless alleviated, the condition progresses rapidly leading to surgical intervention.

I first attended the Chi Clinic in January 2007 on recommendation from my daughter, I had been having pain in my wrists for some while and had had physiotherapy, which did not help.

Also i had suffered with very bad sinus headaches for years. I had tried all the conventional treatments, to no avail.

I am a very stressful person and found that the more stress i was under, the greater the pain. After my first treatment i found that the pain had eased and i felt very relaxed.  Just entering the Chi Clinic has a calming effect, i can't explain it in words.

In May 2007 I sustained a shoulder injury and saw a specialist through BUPA. I was given painful injections and told to exercise. The condition was not improving even with Physiotherapy.  After four months I asked for Tony's opinion, he treated my shoulder and even after one session the pain had improved greatly, for which i am totally grateful. I now know that i should have seen Tony first and gone down his line of treatment.

I have been attending on a regular basis to date and have been treated for many different types of pain/stress. I have now realised that I can control my stress by relaxing, something that i would not have been able to do before Tony's treatments.

My family have commented on the change in me and that I am a lot calmer, for them to comment say's a lot to me.  I can only thank Tony for his treatments and wish i had discovered 'alternative' therapy many years ago. I would not hesitate to recommend Tony to family and friends.

Prior to visiting 'The Chi Clinic' I had had an operation the previous September to relieve a hiatus hernia which I had been suffering with for 3 years before the operation. Before the operation I was suffering with vomiting and reflux which caused me problems on a daily basis. After the operation I couldn't shift the tiredness, the gagging or the diarrhoea. I had been to visit my GP and had numerous blood tests and a stool test done all of these came back negative except for a deficiency in vitamin B12. Due to the tiredness which was taking control of my life I had no concentration or energy and ended up with depression. I was sleeping 10 -12 hours at night and still falling asleep during the day. I was unable to brush my teeth due to gagging and wretching first thing in the morning. I was constantly queasy and was uninterested in eating until late in the day which didn't help my lack of energy. I was also constantly suffering with diarrhoea. By the time January came I was unable to control things around me and it became obvious to the people around me that I was unable to carry on in this way. A colleague and friend who knows Tony well suggested I pay him a visit. I was at the end of my reason trying to find help from my own GP and I had heard only good reports about 'The Chi Clinic' as both my father and a number of my colleagues had previously been to visit Tony with a number of different issues. So I decided it was worth making the trip from Ireland to see if he could help. And aren't I glad I did. Tony used a treatment called hand reflexology to alleviate the problems I could feel in my stomach. Tony stuck a pin into my hand in 3 different places of my hand and as he did this I could feel the tension release from my stomach. The results from the treatment were instantaneous immediately after the treatment I was able to eat freely, there was no more gagging whilst brushing my teeth. It worked perfectly, a couple of days later I returned to Tony for an MOT massage and felt rejuvenated after this. It was the first time I'd actually felt well in years. I will go back to Tony for treatment and would recommended him to everyone. I believe Tony has an amazing ability to heal people and if I lived in the UK I'd be there all time.

I certify that the above is a true record of the events to the best of my knowledge.

C……..a is my eldest daughter and had a happy disposition since childhood. She was always open and friendly with people and interested in others’ concerns.

Some time back, C………a developed a hiatus hernia problem and the knock-on effects of reflux issues caused her great distress and personal embarrassment. This effected her private and work-life quite severely and impacted detrimentally on her confidence. Her efforts to lose weight through exercise were hampered significantly which caused further depression.

After a very serious operation in September 2007, she began the process of recuperation and although the reflux issue seemed to have improved significantly, her general state of depression and tiredness was of great concern. The situation had become obvious to the outside world and as a consequence of a discussion I had with J….n D….r, a friend and colleague, we agreed that C……..a would derive benefit from a visit to Tony Hardiman at The Chi Clinic, as both of us had been patients at the Clinic in the past.

I arranged with J……… for C……..to spend a week with her and she travelled over from Ireland for this purpose.

After her first visit, the results and effects were remarkable. When she rang me after the first visit, I thought that I was talking to the girl I had not heard in several years. She was bright, happy, positive and exhilarated. We spoke for over a hour as she walked through a local park area. At no stage did she seem
